TSR mills was founded by T.S.Ramasamy in the year 1950 as a trading company for agro and agro based commodities in Muthur, Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, India.
It grew in to a wholesaler itself in 1960 and started value addition of agro products in 1980 by leasing a rice mill in Kuttappalayam. It started its own rice milling facility in the year 1980 in Mettankattu valasu but continued its focus in the trading of other agricultural commodities.
Traditional processing techniques combined with the gift of quality paddy made TSR rice a popular choice among customers. Continuous updation and innovation made to stay ahead of times helped TSR to retain the leadership in the rice market.

It grew in to a wholesaler itself in 1960 and started value addition of agro products in 1980 by leasing a rice mill in Kuttappalayam.
It started own facility in 1978 for ground nut. It started its own rice milling facility in the year 1980 in Mettankattu valasu but continued its focus in the trading of other agricultural commodities.
In 1990 it expanded the infrastructure for rice mill. In 2000 the value addition facility for groundnut was closed due to continuous crop failure in the surrounding area. In the same year it expanded the rice milling unit and then rice became its only business.
It continued to modernise its facilities to stay relevant with changing times. It became known for IR20 variety of rice in the markets it served mainly because of the processing techniques used. The IR20 variety was grown in the region by large number of farmers and the rice had desirable characteristics due to climatic and soil conditions of the region. In 2012 it started coconut oil plant and once again diversified its business.
